FIFA 14 For Android And iOS Download Now Available Worldwide

FIFA 14 for iOS was released just last week, but unfortunately for avid soccer fans, it was restricted to those based in specific regions. Today, not only has the latest installment of the popular series taken its worldwide bow, but for the very first time, FIFA has made its long-awaited debut for Android over at the Google Play Store. Details, as as well as the download info, can be found after the break.

FIFA, created by renowned publisher Electronic Arts, has long since been a mainstay of the gaming world, with titles dating right the way back to the SNES, and every year, without fail, a newly-updated version arrives for a plethora of different platforms. iOS has been treated to a FIFA release many times over, but while Android users have grown used to playing second fiddle as developers tend to favor Apple’s ecosystem when it comes to creating apps and games, the Play Store debut of FIFA has still been a long time coming.

Still, in many ways, the fact that it has taken so many years for an Android port to materialize works in the favor of those running Google’s software, for the number of different options, modes and general depth of experience is now quite incredible. On the odd occasion, critics have accused the FIFA series of stagnating, but having played FIFA 14 on the iPad for the best part of a week, the guys over at EA have definitely stepped things up a notch on the previous edition.

Although FIFA used to be a paid app, FIFA 14 is absolutely free to download, so if you’re a bit of a soccer (or football, as it is otherwise known) fanatic, then be sure to check out he appropriate link below depending on your device.

With the usual Manager Mode as well as online challengers, there’s plenty of scope for you to improve your all-round game, so download for free from the links given below, kick ball, and leave your comments below.

iMessage For Android Now Available Download

If you’ve ever used an iOS device or a Mac recently, then you’re probably aware of iMessage. Apple’s instant messaging service is a fantastic, free-of-charge way of communicating between compatible iOS devices like the iPhone and iPad, but it looks like the Android world is also getting involved. The iMessage Chat app is now available as a free-of-charge download from the Play Store, and if you trust the word of the security conscious, then it probably represents one of the best and most negatively efficient ways to compromise your Apple ID.

The app aims to appeal users by promising them the ability to send and receive iMessages from their Android driven device. By design, Apple does not push out official versions of iMessage that allow users of other operating systems to make use of their messaging protocol, but it’s easy to see why an app of this nature would definitely appeal to Android fans. However, when something seems too good to be true, then it usually is. Security researchers and respected developers within the iOS community have already expressed their concern over the iMessage Chat app and explicitly recommend giving it a miss.

It is worth reiterating, that although, the developers behind this creation have gone through the trouble of attempting to replicate the look and feel of iMessage, but this app is not in any way affiliated with Apple. Respected developers such as Steve Troughton-Smith and Adam Bell have already publicly stated through their Twitter timelines that they don’t trust the app. Jailbreak legend and Cydia creator Jay Freeman has also taken to his Twitter and Google+ pages to elaborate on the iMessage Chat app for Android and the way that it handles the user’s data.

A number of sources have confirmed that the app does what it it advertises by making iMessage cross-platform. It’s also been confirmed that the app does directly communicate with Apple’s servers. However, in Jay Freeman’s explanation via his Google+ page, he notes that all of the user’s data is also sent to and processed by servers located in China. This is not only extremely concerning from a user account integrity point of view, but it also means that Apple “can’t just block them by IP address”.

There’s nothing concrete to suggest that the developer of the iMessage Chat app has malicious intentions, but given the information that we already know and the availability of things like WhatsApp messenger, it would make sense to stay clear of this one.

BBM for Iphone leaks; Doesn't work anyway

The buzz this morning is all about the leaked BBM for Android APK that turned up in the CrackBerry forums. It offered a small glimmer of hope for some Android users to get in early on the BBM fun, but alas, it's not working.

It appears that the service is still locked down on Android unless you're on "the list", so if you don't have a whitelisted BBID (and we're pretty sure you don't) then you'll get stuck on the setup screen and that will be the end of it.

Statement from BlackBerry:

The excitement around the upcoming launch of BBM for Android and iPhone users is amazing. We want to thank everyone for their enthusiasm, but wanted to let people know that the program is structured so that only those in the beta will be able to use the app. The version we've seen on the Web in the last couple of days can be downloaded, but will not work on devices that are not approved in the beta program.

If you have an Android device you're more than welcome to try it out but you'll suffer the same fate as everyone else and just have to wait things out until an official release comes down the wire.

Hit up the forums for more discussion and if you happen to get it working, do let us know.

The leak of the Android variant of BBM couldn’t really have come at a better time for BlackBerry. The launch event for the software is so close that it wouldn’t provide any great issues for the company even if the leak was fully functional. However, it also gets the technology loving community talking about the messaging platform which will ultimately drum up interest for when the app is live. As it stands at the minute, the leaked version that we are seeing requires prior user ID authentication to actually work, so it’s nothing more than an aesthetically pleasing shell at this point.

Users who intend to get involved with the new BBM will first of all have to have their BlackBerry IDs authenticated with BlackBerry’s servers before the product will work. Unless you are an official beta tester of this port, then it’s unlikely that your ID will be able to sign into the leaked app. There’s always the option for you to beg and plead with BlackBerry to get your user ID whitelisted on their servers, but we wouldn’t hold our breath on that one.

It’ll be extremely interesting to see what the future holds for BBM and if the decision to go cross-platform has the desired results. If the September 18th launch date proves to be accurate then we don’t have long to wait.
